Membership Terms

The Common Field is a membership network for the people who lead independent schools. These terms cover what membership is, how billing works, and a few things we ask of each other.

What membership includes. Membership is held by a school and used by the person who leads it. A head may also open it to their board, so that board members can reach their counterparts at other schools. Membership gives you someone to write to, conversations about what you are working through, and connections to other leaders and resources.

Billing and cancellation. Membership is $100 a month, billed monthly to the card on file. Membership is month to month. You can cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you have paid for. There are no refunds for partial months, and no long-term commitment.

The founding period. While The Common Field is still being built, founding members are not billed. Founding members receive the full membership during this time, including the one-to-one conversations and connections. Members will be notified before any charge is made.

What we ask of each other. Members keep what is shared here in confidence. Members speak of one another, and of the schools they lead, with care. Connections here are for genuine exchange between colleagues, not for marketing your services to one another. Nobody is expected to have answers, and everyone is expected to act in good faith.

What this is not. The Common Field is not a consulting firm, a legal advisor, or a search firm. Nothing offered here is professional advice, whether it comes from The Common Field or from another member or contact you are connected to. Decisions about your school, your work, and your life remain yours. Neither The Common Field nor anyone you are connected through it is responsible for the outcomes of those decisions, and members agree not to hold them responsible.

Your information. We collect your name, email, school, role, and location so that the network can work. We do not sell it or share it outside The Common Field. Payment details are handled by Stripe and never stored by us.

Changes. These terms may change as The Common Field grows. Members will be told when they do.
